The Rockford Files Stunt Firebirds
By Jim Suva
In Season 1 and 2, in order to save the 74 and 75 Firebirds, the use of older 1972-73 Firebirds were used. These older Firebirds were painted the Rockford color to match the hero Firebirds. The rear chrome bumpers were painted black to match the rear bumpers on the 74-75 Firebirds.
The pictures below are from the IMCDB web site. Internet Movie Car Database.

We do not know how many Firebirds were actually wrecked during filming. We do know they were driven hard and put through their paces, by Roy Clark and James Garner. We will try to add more pictures in the future.
Good info. Thanks Jim!
